Well, regardless of your grooming routines, one thing is for certain; you don't want breakouts. Acne eruptions are one of those burdens all humans dread.

Causes Of Adult Acne

Adult acne is a genuine curse that is very hard to get rid of. As if I was not plagued by enough acne as a youth, I carry on to get outbreaks well into my adult life, and I can not seem to prevent them entirely. I have tried dozens of different acne face washes, body washes, and other skin care products, and while they all seem to help I still get some horrible outbreaks now and then. Naturally, I have been very curious as to the causes of adult acne so that I may better comprehend how to get rid of it.

There are a lot of different possible causes of adult acne, which makes it all the harder to fight. While the existing cellular process that causes acne is clogged pores, usually by the action of bacteria, fighting bacteria on your skin is a hopeless and misdirected solution. First of all, every inch of our skin is covered by bacteria whether we like it or not. Secondly, we in fact need the bacteria on our skin to be there so trying to get rid of them all is not the right approach. Therefore, spirited scrubbing with antibacterial products is not going to help you and may in reality just make things worse.

What Causes Acne

Have you ever wondered what causes acne? Well if you are like me and suffer from acne outbreaks on a routine basis, I am sure you have spent quite a lot of time wondering what causes acne, and even more time trying to get rid of it. What causes acne is one of those questions scientists has been trying to answer ever since the last ice age ended, and although we have several sound theories on the subject now we still have a while to go.

Trying to figure out what is causing your acne is definitely a great place to begin. What causes acne is a difficult question to answer definitively, as there seem to be a lot of possible causes. Most of the theories on what causes acne have focused on three different areas; skin cleanliness, diet, stress, hormones and genetics. The likely answer is that acne is caused by some grouping of some or all of these components in most cases.

Because there are several different root sources behind what causes acne, everyone's acne is likely relatively unique. For instance, I think my own acne is mostly connected to stress and genetics. I use several different acne skin care products and still get outbreaks, though if I do not take good care of my skin I certainly get a lot more. My diet has never seemed to effect my acne in the least.

Having at least some idea of what causes acne for me, it is a lot easier to avoid it. I know that if I take measures to drop stress I will have much less outbreaks. That is why I have incorporated regular exercise and good sleep hygiene into my acne treatment regiment, and it seems to have worked rather well. There does seem to be a hormonal and genetic component to it as well, as some amount of acne occurs even during times of low stress. Thankfully, its not so severe that I feel the need to pursue more robust treatment methods, and I have simply come to accept a small amount of acne as unavoidable in my life.

Adult Acne Treatment

I am in my mid-thirties and I am now in the awkward position of having to face wrinkles and pimples all at the same time. This nightmare is coupled with the concern that there is no adult acne treatment that addresses fine lines and wrinkles. I am blessed in that I do not really have any fine lines or wrinkles, but I am sure that they are in my near future, especially if I do not find an adequate adult acne treatment. The products that treat blemishes tend to dry out my skin. Maybe the oily skin that is prone to break outs is the only thing keeping me from wrinkling up like a prune.

From what I understand about my breakouts, I may be having hormonal problems that contribute to the blemishes. I have done a little investigating, and I have found that hormones can create havoc on a person's complexion. I do notice that the breakouts occur when I am under great stress. I thought that the acne was hives at first then I remember high school and it all comes flooding back to me. My docs office suggested that I chew over using a weak childbirth control medicine to address the blemish trouble. I was very surprised by this adult acne treatment and I am still considering this choice. The birth control medication can cause weight gain and I would rather have extra pimples than extra pounds. The extra pounds tend to stay with me longer.

Acne

When I was a kid, more specifically a teenager, I was known as the king of acne. And with good reason! With a teenage face that had scores of both black heads and white heads, I was a walking talking running advertisement for acne. If the scorn of my peers (especially the females) was one thing, the impossibility of removing the ugly acne I had was another thing altogether.

My relatives firmly believed that acne was a result of a bad (or more specifically, junk) diet. While it was true that I enjoyed the frequent helping of junk food that the neighborhood fast food restaurants dished out, I was not too sure that eating out was the cause of my acne. I mean, a number of my friends ate out with me, and ate junk food even more frequently than I did. But they hardly had any acne. Something had to be wrong with the popular theory right? I had seen the myth being busted right before my eyes. Another associated myth was about chocolate. And since I loved chocolate in any form or shape, I would have found giving it up, even at the risk of remaining acne king, an abhorrent idea. But having read up and followed news and medical reports on the subject, I discovered to me relief that chocolate consumption had nothing whatsoever to do with acne.

Most of my friends, hinted with obvious sarcasm, that my acne advertisement face was a result of my frequent and constant masturbation. For a while, I believed this. Hey! Which hot-blooded, teenage male does not indulge in masturbation at that point in life? But then again, observations told me that this too was an acne myth. For if my acne was linked to my masturbation, was I to conclude that my male friends who had no acne at all did not masturbate? I would have more easily believed that they were aliens! So, that was another acne myth busted.

Another myth that I did believe, and which sounded genuine and even scientific at that time, related to the assumption that acne was a result of dirt accumulation on the pores of my face. I never stopped to consider that if that was the case, why was not the skin on my arms and legs, which were more in contact with dirt and grime than any other part of my body, riddled with acne? In any case, I spent several days, weeks and months assiduously washing my face with all kinds of soaps and anti acne creams in a bid to eradicate acne. Finally, I also resorted to a fatalistic attitude and concluded that the more I stressed myself out thinking about my acne, the more they would continue to remain. It was at that point that I gave up bothering about my acne filled face. And guess what? A few years later, as I finally grew out of my adolescence, the acne disappeared on its own! Although there are still a few tell tale scars of my acne problem days, my face is clear and radiant today!
